Estimating Your Blood Alcohol Level
Estimating your blood-alcohol level based upon your consumption of alcohol (amount and times), weight and sex is highly unreliable and, at best, only a very rough indicator. The simple fact is that the human body and its metabolism of alcohol varies widely from one person to another, and within one person from moment to moment. With that in mind, the following online tables and calculators may be of interest:
Blood-Alcohol Chart
The California DMV’s Alcohol Impairment
chart.
Blood Alcohol Calculator
Online blood alcohol calculator from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, using body weight, drinks consumed, time when consumed and gender.
Alcohol Impairment Charts
Men’s and women’s tables indicating levels of alcohol in the blood, from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
It should also be born in mind that the blood-alcohol level at the time of the blood or breath test is not the issue. Put simply, it is not against the law to have a .08% blood-alcohol level when tested only when driving.
